Winnie the Pooh Pom-Poms
Do you know someone who loves Winnie the Pooh?
Or
Are you looking for a little something sweet to make?
From brightening up a nursery to adding in a hint of whimsy in a sophisticated decor, these Pooh-inspired pom-poms can be strung up on a garland or sewn onto a pillow for a soft surprise.
Creating decor that can grow…
I loved watching Winnie the Pooh growing up as a kid, so naturally, I thought my kids would love it too. While my first two liked to watch it occasionally, my third watches a Pooh movie at least once a day. She’s obsessed!
And since she is the baby (brand new in fact), I set out to make her some decor items that showcase her love of this hungry and mischievous bear. There’s only one problem…
Being the third child and a complete surprise (her siblings are 7 & 9), we don’t have a room designated as a nursery for her. She’s currently sharing our bedroom and eventually will share a room with her sister (unless we move to a bigger house).
So her decor needs to be able to adapt to each room. I wanted to find ways to incorporate her love of Pooh in a fun whimsical way that can grow with her.
Let me tell you how I did it!

How to make Pooh Pom-Poms…
Here are some ways I used my Pooh pom-poms…
Top Tips
I trimmed the front of the pom-pom down to make the ‘face’ less rounded so my felt could stick to more pieces of yarn. I didn’t want the front completely flat because the character would lose its dimension.
This is a messy project! Have a small bucket or bag next to you as you are making these pom-poms. This way you can trim each pom-pom into the bag/bucket.
Lay the pieces of felt out on your pom-pom first so you can arrange them the way you like. Then, glue them down in place one at a time. This gives you complete control over their placement.
The more yarn you wrap around the pom-pom marker the harder it will be to close.
The more yarn you wrap around the tool, the denser your pom-pom will be.
Constantly rotate your pom-pom as you are trimming. This will ensure you are trimming it in a round shape.
What I would do differently…
I fell in love with this DIY and I wouldn’t change a thing. These pom-poms inspired several other DIY projects that I will work on getting to you very soon! I think the faces on these Pooh pom-poms are delightful and bring joy to me every time I look at them!
That being said, I don’t see why you couldn’t use this method to create other characters that would fit into your decor.
I used them as garland and sewed one onto a decorative pillow. But what would you do with them?
